Daddy Comes to the Rescue

Don't send a child to do a man's job. The CIA has decided to take charge and handle things directly, with the help of its democractic-life-loving Lebanese friends.

The Central Intelligence Agency has been authorised to take covert action against Hizbollah as part of a secret plan by President George W. Bush to help the Lebanese government prevent the spread of Iranian influence. Senators and congressmen have been briefed on the classified "non-lethal presidential finding" that allows the CIA to provide financial and logistical support to the prime minister, Fouad Siniora.

The Bush administration hopes Mr Siniora's government, severely weakened after its war with Israel last year, will become a bulwark against the growing power of the Shia sect of Islam, championed by Iran and Syria, since the fall of Saddam Hussein.

Mr Bush's move is at the centre of a fresh drive by America, supported by the Sunni states of Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt as well as Israel, to stop Iranian hegemony in the Middle East emerging from the collapse of Iraq.

the rest...

Bush's new policy in Iraq: copy-paste the liberation of Iraq with all its effects and outcomes to Lebanon.

wow moussa, you have plenty of info to blog about lol. sometimes you go quite a few days so this was a nice change of pace.
anyways, this article that you posted i read on prisonplanet.com. i was so disappointed to read such info since i was (and still am) a staunch supporter of saniora. the only thing, is i wonder how credible this article is. since it is supposed to be very secretive, why would they willingly let such important info be leaked out? i have read many article about iran, iraq, lebanon and syria on the website that i mentioned above, but not sure how credible some of the info is.

to be frank, i was asking myself the same question:
"why would they willingly let such important info be leaked out?"
I will not claim to know the answer, but either way we take it, the results are ugly. Unless there is a third way :-)

agreed moussa.....no matter which side a person is on, the end result is that lebanon is the loser/sacraficial lamb. I hope a solution is found soon before this indeed gets ugly. We made reservations to visit lebanon this summer, but not sure until the week of the reservations if we go or not. instead of being excited, it is worrisome. very sad.
god bless lebanon....

Moussa, With the actual state of the CIA, an agency that became a shadow of its former self, thanks to Rummy and co, I wouldn't be worried. In fact they sent Sanyura their least efficient facility. Pleasing Sanyura and pleasing the CIA who was opted out of the war on terror by Bush.
