Virtual Calm

Last night was really quite here in Beirut. Although I can here war jet planes now. I managed to get some sleep after all those sleepless nights.

But I woke up to news like:
All the rest of the bridges from Saida to Khaldeh (south to Beirut) were totally destroyed. The electric power station and a factory in Jeih, were destroyed. The UN blessed Israel to continue its aggression, thanks to the big mouth of some tiny squeaky ministers like Pipo the Pebble who are angry because their bronzage season was cut short.

More bombing in Bekaa.
Three children from one family among the casualties in Hermel.
Beirut is showered with leaflets of insults for NassrAllah from Israeli planes. And they think this will work and people will start hating him. Yeh right.

Israel is getting back at HizbAllah for its defeat in 2000 and at the Lebanese for supporting the Hizb and resistance from 1982 till 2000.
I need to drink coffee.

Hey Bashir,

Yes indeed it was a quiet night! Wouldn't have been so had the ship not been targeted!!

Screw the UN, screw the international community, what the hell, if we put our faith in them we might as well commit mass suicide!!!

We're on our own now, and we better keep supporting each other. Let's hope the war criminals like Ja'ja would keep their mouths shut for once.

My blog is being spammed by hateful comments from trolls. There are some supportive ones too, for which I am grateful. In times like these even the smallest sympathetic statement makes a difference. Our people in the south are suffering. Screw the international community. What a joke. What a big fcking joke!!!!!!!!

Israel is hitting many birds with one stone Bashir. Getting back at HA, causing more pressure on the lebanese governemnt to disarm HA, flexing their muscles, testing HA's/Iran's/Syria's response ...

Oh ya, and they haven't tasted lebanese blood for a very long time ...

Yeah, why not drink a cup of coffee. And while doing so, read this:

###
UN resolution 1559 (2004):

The Security Council this evening declared its support for a free and fair presidential election in Lebanon conducted according to Lebanese constitutional rules devised without foreign interference or influence and, in that connection, called upon all remaining foreign forces to withdraw from Lebanon.

In a related provision, the Council called for the disbanding and disarmament of all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias. It also called upon all parties concerned to cooperate fully and urgently with the Council for the full implementation of all its resolutions concerning the restoration in Lebanon of territorial integrity, full sovereignty and political independence.
###

You want quiet, you want stability, you want to be able to go to the beach with your kid. All these require you, as a civilian, to take responsibility for your country and what your country does.
Closing your eyes and drinking coffee won't do the trick.

You are correct anarchistian - you are on your own. You want to know why? It's because you have walked around for years saying screw you to individuals not willing to bow down to your way of thinking. Well now we say screw you!!!! If you bit off a little bit more than you can chew and now you're choking on it, so sorry, but don't blame the rest of us. As for a mass suicide do us all a favor and call one of your suicide bomber buddies to do it for you. It's always good to kill two birds with one stone.

Anonymous,

I wish you would refer to the 60+ UN Resolutions against Israel. But I guess it's pick and choose. What happened? I thought the UN was anti-Semitic?

Anonymous #2 ("you are correct Anarchistian"): I am not even going to go down to your level.

I can only echo your last two comments!!
HANG IN THERE ... I'm supporting you all the way and hope to GOD, this nightmare will end SOON!!
God bless you ALL!!

Anarchistian, that resolution was actually designed to give Lebanon a platform to prosper and enjoy the fruits of freedom.

So let me get this right: You gys support NassrAllah, and he is controlled by Syria, so in fact, you support Syria for being in control of Lebanon's national security and stability.

My guess is that inside your heart you wish NassrAllah and his gang were far from Lebanon.

I am for applying all UNSC resolutions in the ME. Had the US not used its veto so much we would have many more that supported justice in the ME.

Israel and the US are ruled by idiots. Their actions will lead to consequences that are contrary to their interests in Lebanon and the region regardless of the military outcome.

Anon, in my heart I want the Israelis to leave everyone alone and stop killing the innocents and destroying our country and Palestine. As for Ha ,they are Lebanese and are an internal situation that is ours alone to handle.

Earlier postings that deserve repeating:

Americans do see both sides:

We have watched as Israel conceded, retreated, and restrained all in an effort for peace.

We have watched as terrorist groups continue to send suicide bombers, kidnap and behead civilians, and make no attempts towards peace.

We finally get it - Muslims hate Jews and will not be happy until Israel is wiped off the map. Sorry we can't support that so you guys go ahead and have at it and may the best man/country win. My money is on Israel - they're fixing to open up a serious can of whoop ass on someone.

I think the Islamic World in the middle East should wake up and smell the coffee it's burning. Israel is through playing the same old game and Americans are through asking their allies to stand down when we know we wouldn't do the same. You take hostages and governments are supposed to negotiate for the release of prisoners. Please!!!! Israel has finally learned that negotiating with terrorist is a no win situation. Please stop complaining to the rest of the world and especially America that Israel's not playing fair. When you elect terrorist as your leaders, when you support terrorist groups with your words and actions, when you spit in our face by burning and dragging our flag through your streets not to mention what you do to our citizens and troops, well then you must learn to reap what you sow without our help.

We have a saying here in America - Play with fire and you get burned. I suggest you strongly urge your Government and terrorist thugs to return the Israel soldiers while there is still time, otherwise you have no one to blame but yourselves.

I'm a American and i'm sickened by the thought that my fellow citizens think its ok to collectively punish innocent civilians for the actions of a terrorist group- and the blame game goes both ways .

Israel occupied southern Lebanon for eighteen years, defying countless resolutions to leave so stop quoting UN resolutions only when it suits you and those are just the ones that the US didn't veto.(7 out of 10 US vetos at the sec council involve Israeli acts of aggression against sovereign nations).

Collective punishment is against the Geneva Conventions -read it , its a war crime! the world has allowed Israel to get away with stuff like kidnapping the Gaza lawmakers, blowing up houses of the parents of suspects, blocking access to food and water for civilians in Gaza who have NOTHING to do with Hamas or Hezbullah or any other political group fighting in the region, firing rockets and missiles into marketplaces and apartments ostensibly to kill terrorists but with no regard for the innocent civilians living in those places, on and on.

In the US its the same old b.s that the Israeli's offer peace while the Palestinians refuse it, but none of these sheep have been in Gaza , or the occupied territories and seen how the IDF acts against UN aid workers, peace activists, doctors without borders etc... i have as i go to the territories often as a aid worker. I've almost been killed three times not by terrorists, insurgents, intifadha but by the IDF wearing UN clearly marked flak jackets with red cross markings. I'm black and have been called all kinds of names by road block soldiers , protected only that i'm a US citizen and it would be tough to explain detaining me .

Lebanon is a democracy and had no control over the Hezbullah action which came from outside its territory. To invade and bomb them ,a US ally who committed no act against Israel ,is a serious violation of international law and one only Israel gets away with.Guys in Beirut, we pray for you and forget the trolls who hate you for your religion or race ..my christian religion offers peace and comfort to the peacemakers and innocents who die for just living in the ME.God bless you all!

Equivalent scenario:
Mexican cattle rustlers on Tex-Mex border are involved in shootout with US border patrol killing one agent and escaping to Mexico. US reaction is to bomb Mexico City airport, fire missiles into Tijuana and blow up apartments in Juarez. Is that an appropriate response?

Anonymous said...

What Lebanon did was firing tens of missiles to the territory of Israel, ambushing a patrol of reserve soldiers, killing 3 and kidnapping 2.
It is a shame you cannot take responsibility for your actions. Again you prove to be a puppet manipulated and controlled by your "friends".

If you look at this the way I do, you'll see the IDF is actually helping the vast majority of Lebanon.

Peace on you.
